This CD features music from two of these 1960s movies - SPINOUT, from 1966, and DOUBLE TROUBLE, from 1967. None of the songs featured here are essential Elvis tracks, although both title tracks are reasonable fun. There is very poor material here though, including such dire songs as SMORGASBORD (where Elvis is singing about liking lots of different types of girls, like a 'smorgasbord' features lots of different types of food), and even an absolutely appalling version of the children...more |

During the 1960s Elvis Presley didn't perform live on stage like he had in the 1950s and later would in the 1970s. Instead if his fans wanted to see him perform they had to go to see the movies he made, which were poor in comparison to his live performances. The storylines were often turgid, and the songs were, more often than not, pretty poor too. This CD features music from two of these 1960s movies - SPINOUT, from 1966, and DOUBLE TROUBLE, from 1967. None of the songs featured here are essential Elvis tracks, although both title tracks are reasonable fun. The Silhouette - Ava Inferi
Pretty and nasty gothic metal, with an excellent vocal performance. Songs tend to over-run, and become repetitive and similar.
Spit Blood - The Atomic Bitchwax
Technically accomplished stoner rock that knows when to take it easy. Some instrumentals are less inspired than others.
Remember Tomorrow - Attic
First song will make some people happy for a few minutes. Remixes are bad, boring and pointless.

Incredibly atmospheric. There is nothing else.
Lost Eden - Asura
Excellent atmosphere, and skilled blending of genres. Deterioration into generic and overlong dance tracks.
Hymn Till Hangagud - Allegiance
Entertainingly violent black metal from excellent performers. Viking themes and musical elements are a little stereotypical for connoisseurs.
Doom Of Destiny - Axxis
Accessible power metal with some interesting operatic touches. Perhaps not experimental enough.
Acts Of God - At War With Self
Intriguing progressive/psychedelic rock. At times too difficult, and at others too dull.
