Surface To Air - Zombi
by Burning_Darkness - written on 04/03/09 (Very useful, 95 readings)
Rating:
At the time of the release of their second full length, Surface To Air , prog rock/synth duo Zombi embarked on a US tour with the hugely successful progessive metal band Isis, and their influence on Zombi shows, right down to the sleeve art. The front cover of Surface To Air shows an aerial photograph of a mysterious blue landscape, and the inner sleeve contains similar pictures of vast cloud formations and river networks in a variety of garish greens and oranges, giving them a somewhat alien quality. The cover is strikingly similar to the cover of Isis 2004 album Panopticon , which also features a deep blue-coloured aerial shot taken from a similar altitude. There ...

Zombi are a two man group hailing from Pittsburgh USA who pick up where Goblin left off, creating sinister yet proggy soundscapes of pulsing analog synths, funky basslines and jazzy drums. Their output is purely instrumental, and guitars are also absent, the songs being essentially keyboard-driven. Rich waves of synthesized sound bleed into one another, as the album ebbs from urgent, throbbing beats to psychedelic ambience to prog-rock indulgence. John Capenter influences are frequently apparent as well, with the track ...

Everything
The album is censored
The Witches Of Eastwick - Soundtrack
Devilishly fun with the most catchy main theme and strong incidental music
Sound very dry and a small technical flaw in one track

good songs, no really bad songs.
unnecessarily long review!!

High production values, the funny tracks are funny and the serious ones serious.
May be obscure for some people, Shatners spoken word style can be strange

Some great tracks, great lyrics, raw uk music
Maybe too many skits?
