It´s such a shame that a lot of people will turn their noses at this because it´s made for a kid´s film with horses that don´t even talk.
It´s just genious, the music tells the story of the film and with Hans Zimmer as music composer - it´s bound to be amazing.
The mix of electronic music, guitars and orchestration is just something I have never heard before or since. It´s such a moving sound and with Bryan´s lyrics to go with it it just becomes pure poetry.
There are some instrumental songs on this album and they are really really good and interesting.
The song "Here I am" should in my opinioin had won an Oscar - it makes me smile big time everytime I hear it and it just fills you with a desire to go out and do something, to have a go and do what you really want. Another great song is "I will always return" Sad and happy at the same time, this is me and fiances song - I love it to bits.
I know I go on a bit, but this is just such an awesome album - you need to buy this otherwise you are missing something absolutely fantastic.
Overview and background - Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron is a film by the DreamWorks animation company. The film tells the story of a wild mustang living in the Wild West and the effect that humans have upon his life. The most part of the film only has horse noises and the visuals and small amount of narration are what tells most of the story, backed up by the music put together by Hans Zimmer and with vocalist Bryan Adams. The CD contains 16 tracks, 4 of which are purely instrumental, all taken from the film.
My opinions - I love this film and so for me this is a great CD by a great artist. However although the songs tell the story of the movie, it is quite enjoyable to listen to the songs without knowing the storyline at all. Even the instrumental tracks are lovely to listen to. I find these songs very emotive and I find that Bryan Adams voice suits the songs very well and in my opinion Hans Zimmer is a brilliant composer. The instrumental music fits the film perfectly and even if you have not seen the film you can feel the amount of emotion in them that just blows you away. These songs make me wish I was a wild mustang!
My overall feelings on this CD are that it is a brilliant CD especially for children.
Amazing music. Bryan Adams on vocals and Hans Zimmer writing the score are a team that should be set up again!
I have watched the film and the music brilliantly captures the essence of what the film is trying to portray. The lyrics are designed to tell part of the story while the narrator does the rest but it is easily listenable to without having watched the film.
There is a mix of love songs, instrumentals and the more soft rock end of things that Bryan Adams is famous for. some of the songs are repetitive as they are obviously meant for the film but its fine.
The film is set in the Amercian midwest - southwest so if you ever find yourself visiting the states and going on a road trip anywhere around Colorado, Arizona, Utah and Kansas make sure you take this album with you!
I am a huge Bryan Adams fan so I thought I would give this album a go. I hasten to add I haven’t seen the film so this op is purely about the music. Firstly, a bit of background…. As I understand it the film itself is an animated film with no dialogue and the entire story is told by the music. I have no idea what the plot is about so that’s it for background I’m afraid. The Album There are 15 tracks on the album, a mixture of instrumental and songs including Bryan Adam’s latest single ‘Here I Am’ (Twice). The songs are typical of Bryan Adams so all you fans out there will not be disappointed. The songs reminded me of the ’18 till I die’ album. There is a great mixture of rock and rock ballard. Being a bit of a rock chick the third song on the album ‘You can’t take me’ is definitely my fav. I am always a bit dubious of instrumentals…you either love ‘em or hate ‘em, but I was pleasantly surprised. Out of the 15 tracks, 4 are completely instrumental. The instrumental is almost classical in nature with a full orchestra giving it all it’s got. As this music is supposed to tell the story, I can honestly say it probably does. I only say this because the track ‘Rain’ does actually remind me of rain. This would have to be a must for all Bryan Adams fans….and for those of you who aren’t, give it a go…you may enjoy it! The price of course is variable depending where you buy it from. I would be interested to read any ops from anyone who has seen the film to see how the music enhanced/ didn’t do justice to the animation. Thanx for your attention
