"Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On" came in 1974 as the sixth album for Funkadelic. By this point the Psychedelic phase had long-gone for the George Clinton-led band and instead they had moved things on to the point where they advanced things with their progressive Funk to take on what the likes of Sly & The Family Stone and James Brown (and his associates) had come up with to create the sorts of things that would become extremely popular when, later on in the year the same band (who here contains many including Fuzzy Haskins, Eddie Hazel, Bernie Worrell and many others) as Parliament.
