Advantages: Many great tunes

Disadvantages: i prefer Dr Dre

I hadn’t really heard of Outkast until my friend bought their alum and said that being a rap fan I’d like. Then hearing their debut song “Ms Jackson” on the radio and really liking it I puschased the album Stankonia.

Being use to rap like Dr Dre and NWA Outjast is in a different league, not that they are better or worse but that they are different. Their rap is much more mellow and laid back whereas as Dre is much more up front. Having listened to the album through several times I have really grown to enjoy and acknowledge the great songs which are on offer. I’m sure when Ms Jackson has slowly dropped from the charts Outkast will back it with one of the other great songs on the album.

The group were supposedly backing Eminem for his UK tour but had to back out due because one of the members wifes was having a baby. I honestly think that was a good thing for Outkast as they can now do their own tour where the limelight will not be stolen by someone else.

The album consists of 24 tunes including a few interludes you come to pass from many rap groups’ albums. Outkast have something to be really proud of here as there are many great tunes on the album. These tunes include, B.O.B, Gasoline Dreams, So Fresh-So Clean, We luv deez hoez and humble mumble. There are still lots more good tracks held within the C.D but they are my real favourites.The album also features other artists including, killer mike and j-sweet, gangsta boo and eco,b-real, back-bone and many more. Most people haven’t really heard of these rappers and I must admit I hadn’t but they are really good. The album isn’t totally my cup of tea as a few of the songs sound the same and have the same beat.

This album is one to buy if you are into more R’n’B of more mellow rap and maybe if you like Dr Dre like I do. I give this album 8/10
