Almost 20 years later, the Star Trek feature film series had already reached its ninth installment. Star Trek: First Contact was quite the popular hit when it came in 1996 and the distinctly darker set designs and story ideas were greeted with quite a lot of enthusiasm that distanced itself very much from the old TV series stylings.
