Crowned Review Star Wars: Episode III: John Williams - Soundtrack: Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith (Original Soundtrack) (3867 words)

Rating:

INTRODUCTION So the Star Wars saga is finally over. With the late arrival of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, George Lucas' cartoonish sci-fi fantasy has reached its dreaded and most dark and desperate climax as Anakin Skywalker finally succumbs to the Dark Side and becomes the Sith Lord Darth Vader. After The Phantom Menace failed to make the impression on the general public than was hoped, the prequels have been received with more of a feeling of "let's wait and see". Whereas the original trilogy of 1977-1983 was received with great excitement, the prequels have been sorely lacking in the ingredients that made the originals so gripping, namely ...  Read the complete review

Rating:

The final instalment of one of the most successful and popular film franchises, ‘Revenge of the Sith’ also marked the last time John Williams would produce the beloved accompanying music (video games and future spin-offs excluded). The music for Episode III unsurprisingly follows the same style as the previous five films, but Williams continues to experiment to a small degree. Hlidskjalf - Burzum
Improved technology and focus over previous release. Still feels insubstantial.

Area 54 - Apocrypha
Distinctive heavy metal with a strong bass presence and great vocals. Oddly, perhaps too great a variety.

Diabolic Serenades - Ancient Rites
A great early black metal sound, with great vocals and guitars. Mechanical drumming is distracting.

Medicine For The Melacholic - Insofar
An energetic and exciting eight tracks of rock. The poor production detracts heavily away from the overall quality of the release.

Deathcult Eternity - Chasm
Excellent guitars and highly distinctive song structures. May not please fans of more traditional death metal styles.

For Drug Crazed Grindfreaks Only! Live At Noctum Studios - Brutal Truth
Fairly decent grindcore E.P. That's all there is to it.

Beyond My Grey Wake - How Like a Winter
Satisfying and accomplished gothic doom metal. Takes all its ideas from elsewhere.

Strychnine.213 - Aborted
Brutal vocals, a grindcore track reminiscent of Nasum or Napalm Death Nothing extraordinary happening
