1988's 'State of Euphoria' sees Anthrax riding on the success of the previous year's hit 'Among the Living,' and really brings nothing new or particularly exciting for those who already own that superior release. There are some more classic Anthrax songs here, but despite a few initially surprising directions taken in the first minutes of songs, most of them end up sounding exactly the same by the half-way point: guitarists Scott Ian and Dave Spitz chugging along steadily above Charlie Benante's drums, while Joey Belladonna gives a comparatively lazy vocal assault on whichever uncontroversial area of society or the government the band has decided to target this time ...
