An impressive 4th release from the American metal band, this has a notable hardcore sound but with clean vocals at a time when harsh growls that aren't even properly delivered have taken over numerous genres. It would be foolish to label them as a hardcore band though as they are far more innovative. The music is at full throttle from the beginning with some very intelligent guitar work, there's everything from doom riffs through to psychedelic sectios that ensure Kylesa's Static Tensions is like nothing else released this year yet but at the same time would surely appeal to more people than your average extreme metal band.
