Advantages: Some exceptionally catchy tracks.
Disadvantages: May not appeal to everyone.
Route 215 are a London based Rock band and released this 'Steal Your Soul With Rock 'n' Roll' album back in January 2004 through All Star Recordings. The 13 tracks present on this album never fail to impress with the great Punk Rock 'n Roll styling that the band possess - I have often seen the band described as being Pop Punk which I guess could be considered true but it really does not do the bands sound any justice. This album sold 20 000 copies in a mere 3 months over in Japan and this goes to show the potential of this band. They have never been huge in the UK but they sure enough have the potential to be. Their sound is fantastic and everything about their music shines through and is always excellent to listen to.
As I have already said, this album is a hefty 13 tracks long and goes down a treat with its catchy beats, and hammering bass lines. A track to be noted from this album has got to be 'Steal Your Soul' as this track is just an absolute beast of catchinesss. It is layered with fiery guitars, brilliant bass lines, devilish drum beats, and vocals that'll give you a severe punch in the face. There is no way that you will not like this track or indeed any of the tracks on this album as they are all just so good and this is exactly the sort of quality that I was expecting after hearing the amazing 'Make The Love Connection' CD in 2003 which features four tracks from Route 215 and four from another band also; Captain Everything.
'Ghost Rock' is a track that sticks in your mind after listening to this CD a fair few times - an awesome duet with Kelly of No Comply fame, a band who sadly split up back in 2006. Generally I'm not a huge fan of duets and tend to find most a little rubbish, but this track is far from bland and will almost certainly put a smile on your face with its catchy as ever beat. I don't really know how the band manage to do it - but they are catchy in every step that they take on this CD and by the end of listening to this album a couple of times you will be humming the tracks as you walk down the road and singing the songs at the top of your voice at the most inappropriate moments.
Route 215's music is absolutely amazing and I really don't know how they have made such a crazily catchy album, but granted they have indeed done so and I salute them for it. Punk Rock 'n' Roll has never sounded this damn fine before but then again it is obvious from the offset that Route 215 are no ordinary rock band. They stand high above the crowd with their awesome blend of music and it is sure to get your pulses racing to some sort of degree. Even if you are not usually a fan of Punk, chances are that you will find something in this record that will float your boat and put a humongous great big smile on your face. I'm a sucker for catchy records and Route215 pushed all the right buttons as far as I'm concerned - impressive stuff from the band I must say. Not many UK Punk bands have albums that are quality throughout and can stand the test of time - Route215 however are a band that do. I absolutely love this band and see no reason why they should not go on to greater things as they certainly deserve it - it has been four years since this album was released but it is still one that I will go back and listen to from time to time. The music of Route 215 is always enthralling and will never prove to be less than thrilling. Make sure you give this band a listen at the first opportunity you get.
