The Rough Guide to Rock calls this "quite simply, one of the best albums of the 80s". I'd go further. This is one of the best albums ever. Don't be put off by the band's silly monniker (the Beatles had a daft name too, after all). Just revel in the beautiful tunes, sparkling production and clever, witty lyrics. Steve McQueen was the Sprouts' second album. It falls somewhere between the quirkiness of their 1984 debut 'Swoon' and the commerciality of their next 'From Langley Park to Memphis'.
