After an 80's sojourn into the stormy terrain of mainstream rock, Gary Moore returned to his blues roots with the aptly named 1990 release 'Still Got The Blues'. Far from his Les Paul being suspended above him like some musical Sword of Damocles, the decision to journey back to his true vocation was a justifiable one as the album was a resounding success. Listening to his very early stuff it is quite clear the blues was a major influence on his playing style but he has dabbled in various techniques throughout his career and could be described as somewhat of a chameleon in guitar based circles. (Check out the stuff he did with Colosseum II, it's ... Read the complete review

This was the album where Gary Moore reinvented himself again. This time to the blues. His career started him off as a bluesman but as he said himself “I’m essentially a blues guitarist who got caught up in the rock scene.” His technique is amazing and his knowledge of the guitar is second to none. It’s a pity Moore isn’t recognized as much as Hendrix, Clapton, Santana, Page, Satriani, Vai etc as one of the best guitarists ever. Onto the music then, the album kicks off with a great driving song : Moving On. There are two brilliant solos in it and it’s an indication of what the rest of the ... Read the complete review

Gary Moore first received widespread attention and national radio airtime with his definitive hard electric blues effort Still Got The Blues. Up until this point in time (about 1990), Gary Moore was more or less an underground musician with a considerable following among blues guitarists. The title track received much airtime, and rightfully so. "Still Got The Blues" has all the characteristics inherent in Gary Moore's electric blues style that embraces such legendary blues players such as Albert Collins, Albert King, BB King, while still managing to sound very new at the same time. Gary's trademark is integrating this traditional blues with more modern guitar ... Read the complete review

Gary Moore, the guitarist from Thin Lizzy and various other rock bands, makes his forey into his true calling - the blues. However, some people my be worried at the thought of Gary Moore, known for being a rock guitarist, making a move into the blues seen. You needn't be as the album manages to combine rock and blues, going from one extreme to the other. This album is probably my favourite all time album, Gary Moore at his best and the album that made me decide to play the guitar. Two of my favourites from this album are Still Got The Blues and Walking By Myself, two tracks which are deceptively hard to play due to the very fast playing on the solos by Mr ... Bored Teenagers Vol.1
Some great hits from some relatively unknown artists
None that I can think of
Temple Of The Cat - Ayreon
A fair overview of 'The Dream Sequencer,' if nothing else.
Not Ayreon's strongest material.
Collection - Mitsou
Some ok pop music
Some annoying tracks
Bad Religion - Bad Religion
Fun and competent debut release.
Only 'Sensory Overload' really stands out as an early classic.
Demo 06.06.06 - Armed
Effectively disturbed atmosphere.
Not engaging.
Suckpump - Bile
Competent industrial, with a little something for everybody (you know, within reason).
An unsettling mix, and not always in the good way.
Last 2 Walk - Three 6 Mafia
Some club bangers
A few weaker tracks
One For All - Raven
Excellent throughout
None
Inhale the Evil - Hasta La Vista Social Club
A Time Of Changes-phase 1 - Blitzkrieg
Superb music throughout, quite experimental really
2 weak tracks
