Advantages: Some Great Songs

Disadvantages: Repetitive

Well if your a fan of Green Day you need to hear this album. This is basically the same band but with a slightly different sound. Being a massive fan of Green Day I was keen to give this a try. It's very different from what were used to. Has a more country kind of sound to it. Anyway here is what I make of the songs:

1. Stop Drop And Roll - Quite a rocky start. Fast pace and some good lyrics. A decent start to the album. 8/10

2. Mother Mary - A brilliant song, think this was the only one they released as a single and you did hear quite a bit of it on the radio. Is a brilliant little song and has a really catchy sound. 10/10

3. Ruby Room - Another really good song, it really sticks in your head and has a powerful chorus. 9/10

4. Red Tide - This one is a little slower. To be hoenst I find it quite boring, not the kind of sound you would expect from Green Day which is exactly why they have released this album under another name. 6/10

5. Broadway - This one has a good rhythm but again is just lacking something really. 7/10

6. She's A Saint Not A Celebrity - Excellent. A really good foot tapping beat and some clever lyrics. Great vocal performance, one of my favorite songs from the album.

7. Sally - A fast one that flows very well. Is the kind of song you can really see people dancing along to. 8/10

8. Alligator - Quite addictive, but really a very simple sound that lacks anything and after a few listens becomes quite boring. 7/10

9. The Pedestrain - Another of my favorites. Has suck a good sound to it and just makes me want to jig around the floor. Combines classic green day rock with a kind of western country flavor. 9/10

10. 27th Ave Shuffle - Quite a good little song, but all sounding a bit the same at this point. 7/10

11. Dark Side Of The Night - Very unusual song. Like nothing have heard from this band before. Am not a fan of this song, but it is nice that they tried something different. 6/10

12. Pieces Of Truth - A decent end to the album, but again it sounds to much like all the other songs. 7/10

Overall this is a good album. But with Green Day I find I can listen their music over and over and never get bored of it, whereas with this album I did get sick of it quite soon. Its almost to commecial, but having said that there are some very good songs on it and its well worth a listen. Another point is the lenth of the songs, out of the 12 there are only three over three mins long! So its a very short album that only lasts about half an hour! So not great value for money. Is funny as Green Days latest album last for nearly an hour and a half!

Anyway overall would give this album 8/10

Summary: A decent album but nothing special
