'Straight Outa Compton' is the 1988 full length debut album from gangster rap pioneers NWA (Niggaz With Attitude, comprised of Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, MC Ren, DJ Yella and briefly the Arabian Prince), often called 'the worlds most dangerous group', released on Ruthless Records and produced by the combination of Dr Dre and DJ Yella. "Straight Outta Compton" is the second album from N.W.A, a pioneering Gangsta Rap group from South Central LA. It out came in 1988, a year after their debut "N.W.A and the Posse", but the main differece here is that the 'and Posse' isn't a part of the album as there's no Fiila Fresh Crew or Rappinstine tracks. Thsi one is pure G. Rap from start to beginning with Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, ice Cube, MC Ren, The D.O.C., Arabian Prince and DJ Yella (who is the only non-vocla member of the group. Released in 1988 this is one of my favourite albums of all time, But checking the track listings there seems to be only a couple of songs that I really like. Straight outta Compton: Song about the area the group are from (even though a few of them don’t come from here, and certainly don’t live here anymore) Basic gangsta talk, gunplay and swearing, loads of it. Controversial at the time but run of the mill nowadays. I like this one! First off, this album gets five stars for one reason above all others (i.e. despite the fact it is genre defining, stands the test of time, and virtually faultless etc.). The reason I have awarded this album full marks without hesistation is that on the last track 'Something to Dance 2', there is a sample and it goes by and you're like 'what the hell was that?' and then you rewind it...and you go 'aahhhhhhhggghhh what is it?' "Straight Outta Compton" is one of those albums that defines a particular time period in music. At the time, it gave rap music the life that it so badly needed, with East Coast rap in serious decline. It also gave fuel to those who would have people believe that rap is nothing more than trash, performed by trashy people.
