While some tracks are nice and busy, others such as Morphia are more laid back and subtle. Following the artistic and critical success of his 2005 debut album Things Buried, Stranger Inside further develops Barbieri's unique approach to texture, harmony and rhythm. The album is both hypnotic and unpredictable, as Richard crafts his electronic wizardry around an every changing rhythm, which is built upon with various samples and textures (including the vocal talents of Susan Barbieri and Tim Bowness).
