*Introduction*
Christina Aguilera has molded herself from a pop princess to a soul diva in a few short years. Stripped, released in October 2002 was the album that launched her to superstardom. The album also brought her critical acclaim that she hadnt seen on her previous albums.
She worked with a wide range of producers on the album from Scott Scorch to Linda Perry with both also having written some of the songs with Aguilera. Here is my review of Christina Aguilera's stripped.
*Stripped*
1.) Stripped (Intro)
This is an interesting intro that features news clips of various stars talking about Christina, it then develops into an introduction from Christina.
2.) Can't hold us down ft Lil Kim
This is a funky hip hop track with a firm beat, This track is about women standing up together against the misconceptions between men and women. This track has a very catchy feel and has a great flow to it and a great message for women.
3.) Walk Away
This is the first ballad from the album and opens with a gentle piano and then a drum beat. This is one of her best ballads. A lovely track about having to walk away from a relationship for the better. Her voice sounds brilliant.
4.) Fighter
This is the Hardest rock track on the album and features former Janes Addiction and Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Dave Navarro. This is a fantastic track which is two fingers up to the doubters. A great track with a great message.
5.) Primer Amor (interlude)
This interlude draws on her Puerto Rican background with a spanish intro to the next track. A nice little interlude that works well as an introduction to the next track.
6.) Infatuation
This track doesnt quite live up to the rest of the album, it's a very good flowing track but it doesnt quite have the spark of the best. It suffers a little for it's mid tempo feel where a step either way would suit it better.
7.) Loves Embrace (Interlude)
Another interlude here which leads into a great ballad. This is a nice soft interlude that has soft guitar, drums, keyboards and strings.
8.) Loving me 4 me
This is a great track about someone loving you for the person you are and not wanting to change you. This has a beautiful backing from the music. The strings work superbly well with this track and give a great intimacy to the song.
9.) Impossible ft Alicia Keys
This is a fantastic duet with Alicia Keys, it opens with Alicia just playing a tune and telling Christina to speak on her problems. The gentle piano melody is accompanied with a firm bassline from the drums and bass guitar. This is a fabulous duet about a relationship being impossibly hard. An awesome ballad which sees both in fine form.
10.) Underappreciated
This has a nice intro with a funky bluesy guitar and then a soul background comes in with a firm beat. The track is about feeling underappreciated in a relationship and feeling that you are being taken for granted by your partner. Something that I'm sure you will have experienced sometime in your relationships.
11.) Beautiful
This was a massive single when it was released and was rated as one of the greatest singles of all time. A track about having self confidence no matter what anyone else says. This track has such a great message and is done so well.
12.) Make Over
There was some controversy with this track about it sounding similar to Sugababes hit single Overload, even though it does have a slight feel of that song it is far better in my opinion. A great uptempo track that has a great rythmn. One of her best uptempo tracks on the album.
13.) Cruz
This is a track that starts with a gentle piano and then develops with the drum beat. This track is about escaping from the bad stuff in your life and wanting to get away from everything. Something that everyone can relate to. A Great track.
14.) Soar
This has a nice piano intro and then develops into a great uptempo soul ballad. Christina sounds brilliant on this track and the message of the song is about doing your own thing and having the belief in yourself to soar. The backing music is fantastic with some dramatic strings.
15.) Get mine, get yours
This is a sensual track about what happens in the bedroom or wherever you choose to make love. A very nice track which has a new slant on the "loving" song. This has a great catchy feel to it and is done superbly well with Christina sounding superb.
16.) Dirty ft Redman
This is an amazingly energetic track with a thumping beat. This was also a huge hit single and has since become a club classic. This is a huge track in my local clubs and I'm sure just about every club it is played at will be jumping. A great sexy track.
17.) Stripped pt2
This follows on from the introduction and is another short interlude to the final three songs on the album. A worthy interlude which earns it's value aswell as the first track.
18.) The voice within
This is a fabulous track which is beautiful. A great ballad about having confidence in yourself when things are really getting on top of you. Something that is so inspiring to many listeners. One of her greatest songs.
19.) I'm Ok
This is a heartbreaking track about Christina remembering her childhood when she would hear her father hitting her mother. This is a phenomenal track which was a huge track with several groups praising the beauty of the track. Christina at her best.
20.) Keep on singing my song
This is the final track of an epic album and is a superb ending. This track is another track about having confidence in yourself. A great uplifting ballad which has a superb gospel choir ending that is so so good.
*Overall*
This is a fabulous album with so many awesome tracks whether they are gorgeous uplifting ballads or tender heartbreakers or even club stompers, there's everything for a wide range of listeners. This is the album that made Christina Aguilera and she hasnt dissapointed since. One of the brightest starts in the music industry today.
Summary: Great album
