STUDIO B is a release from the Elvis Presley specialist record label FTD. This release includes a wide variety of alternate takes and outtakes from Elvis' recording sessions from the early 1960s, a period after he had just returned from his stint in the army and where his music was beginning to take a turn for the worst.
That's not to say that there isn't some fantastic music on this CD. THAT'S SOMEONE YOU NEVER FORGET (take 5) is definitely Elvis at his best, and HIS LATEST FLAME, featuring some fantastic saxophone work from the late, great, Boots Randolph is a real treat.
WESTERN UNION, although a good song, is of course a complete rip-off of the classic RETURN TO SENDER, telling virtually the same story. LOVE ME TONIGHT really shows off the smoothness of Elvis' voice in an almost a cappella version.
STUDIO B is a great release for Elvis fans who like his music from the early 1960s.
