You may be thinking, why does this matter three and a half years after its original release and a whole new album later? Well, in my personal opinion, it is definitely their best album to date. Their tracks from the previous album (Count Your Blessings, 2006) are primarily filled with the sounds of teenage angst pouring out mixed with somewhat inaudible vocals. This album however, definitely shows a new level of maturity throughout their work and some brilliant melodies that stick in your brain for days mixed with the same old Bring Me The Horizon sound. I had originally downloaded the album but I was so impressed by the clean vocals and the overall outcome of the album that I went out the next day and purchased it. It is still worth purchasing.
I have put the track listing below if you'd like to listen to a few of the tracks before you decide whether you want to buy the album or not:
1. The Comedown
2. Chelsea Smile
3. It Was Written In Blood
4. Death Breath
5. Football Season Is Over
6. Sleep With One Eye Open
7. Diamonds Aren't Forever
8. The Sadness Will Never End
9. No Need For Introductions, I've Read About Girls Like You On The Backs of Toilet Doors
10. Suicide Season
As a last point, any fans of techno and/or dubstep can also check out Suicide Season Cut Up - the remixed version of the album.
Suicide Season was the second studio album by Bring Me The Horizon. I have to say its 100% better.
Band Members for this album were:
Oliver Sykes - lead vocals, keyboards, synthesizers, programming, composer
Matt Nicholls - drums
Curtis Ward - rhythm guitar
Matt Kean - bass guitar
Lee Malia - lead guitar
The previous album was Count your blessings and although I enjoyed some of it, the vocals are impossible to understand! What I like about this album is the vocals have improved so much! You can understand most of what is said. In this album Bring Me The Horizon are really starting to find their own sound, I haven't really come across another band who have the same sort of sound as them.
This is a list of the tracks from the album
It Was Written in Blood
Football Season Is Over
Sleep with One Eye Open
Diamonds Aren't Forever
The Sadness Will Never End (featuring Sam Carter of Architects)
No Need for Introductions, I've Read About Girls Like You on the Backs of Toilet Doors
I saw this band live and I really enjoyed it, they played a fair few of the tracks from this album. If your sceptical about whether you'll like this album then check out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TNckXgfYhA
That is probably my favourite song from the album!
Suicide season is a complete departure from the Bring Me The Horizon that emerged in 2006's debut album 'Count Your Blessings. The band have matured and ditched the high pitched screaming vocals of frontman Oli Skyes in favour of a more shouty style akin to that of Frank Carter of Gallows at times alongside deeper screams.
The intrumentalists showcase their talent excellently on this album which each playing at the top of their game, from the impressive fretwork on The Comedown to the thundering drums on Sleep With One Eye Open. Its clear that this band mean business and are keen to showcase their material live with chanting and gang vocals just begging to be shouted by fans at gigs.
This album features a more metalcore sound than the death-core wannabe of Count Your Blessings and is making bring Me the Horizon a household name in the minds of metal lovers, while they still have their haters this will bring in a lot more fans. A wider range of sounds is also incorporated with synths and electro effects making an appearance to lend a more atmospheric sound to already killer tracks such as Chelsea Smile.
Stand out tracks include the afore mentioned Chelsea Smile, a straight up balls to the wall anthem that shows the talent of the lyrical writing of Sykes set to a riff that shakes up mosh pit after mosh pit. The Sadness Will Never End is easily the albums most mature song and with its emotional guest vocals from Architects frontman Sam Carter is one of the catchiest on the album.
The weakest song on the album, It Was Written in Blood feels like the filler that was just thrown on the album because there was nothing better but it still is a good listen, just not the most complex and slows the album down slightly.
Overall this is a great second album by the rising brit mob and has shot them to fame with the follow up, There is a Hell.......... being released in October 2010.
Suicide Season has it's ups and downs. There is one absolutely amazing song that I can't stop listening to (Chelsea Smile), and a couple of good ones, but there are also some pretty band songs. If you're into deathcore metal, you'll probably like more of the songs than me.
I do like screamo, but only tuneful music. Whereas most of the songs on the album have a relatively good tune, there are couple, like "Football Season Is Over" that seem to be random drum bashing and guitar strumming and a man shouting. Besides the two or three bad songs, most of them are good, and I would recommend giving them a listen. If you haven't heard of them before, and like deathcore metal, but with a tune, like me, I'd recommend listening to Chelsea Smile, The Sadness Will Never End and Sleep With One Eye Open.
Also, if you buy the Cut Up edition, it contains all the songs remixed, and if you're into drum 'n' bass and screamo, these are good. The Tek-One remix of Sleep With One Eye Open, is, according to my drum 'n' bass expert friend Nima, a very good remix, and is worth listening too.
Bring Me The Horizon- Suicide Season
Bring Me The Horizon formed in 2004, The frontman Oliver Sykes owns his own clothing line called 'DROP DEAD' I love the clothes you get from there but they are really expensive!
This is Bring Me The Horizon's 2nd Studio album, their first one was Count Your Blessings.
The band come under metalcore. I understand that not many of the older people will listen to Bring Me The Horizon because they are too 'Screamo' but there are alot of young people out there that might, though there is explicit language I know that when I say young i mean from ages 14-18. Its rare that I come across like a 25 year old that loves Bring Me The Horizon.
I have always been a fan of Bring Me The Horizon, I love them lots! They are amazing live.

If you are thinking of listening to Bring Me The Horizon for the first time, I recommend you go for a song like Chelsea Smile to ease you into it because if you go for one like 'The Comedown' guaranteed you will not be to fond of them, because it starts off with heavy screaming. By listening to Chelsea Smile, you will get a taste of what the band is like with mixed vocals and by that I mean, screaming (but not as heavy) and singing. And if you are a Bring Me The Horizon first timer(or if your listening to scream for the first time) it is also guaranteed that half of their songs you listen to you wont understand the lyrics, but don't worry because once you get used to it you will be able to listen to a song and just automatically know, you could always do what my cousin does and cheat and research the lyrics...or have patience like me and listen carefully.
This band have some good beats to them along with rhythms, the beat and rhythms show the metal side.
This track is the most underdstandable track on the album but it is so catchy. The guitar is so easy to learn and the drums! I love the lyrics...around 02:34, if you listen to the track, this is the best part. I just generally love this track I may not have a specific reason but who cares?
Diamonds Arent Forever
This track is amazing! It just has one of those beats to it that makes me want to jump around. But I do that to most songs anyway. This track is one of the best off the album, The chant at the beginning is sure to get your attention.
Football Season Is Over
This track is really cool I love the chorus to it. 'Party till you pass out drink till your dead, dance all night till you cant feel your legs'
Its not really that much of a long song but its still awesome and one of my favourites.
The Sadness Will Never End
This is highly recommended as a BMTH first timer. Its typical Bring Me The Horizon. I love the chorus its so catchy. Oli does a tremendous job of the vocals and the lyrics, inspire me to write my own.

I never used to like Bring Me The Horizon, until this album. I checked it out and was pleasantly surprised.
Suicide Season is an inventive, fresh piece of modern, british metal.
The maturity and progression seen on this album outshines all their previous work.
The guitars on this album sound indescribably huge, the meaty riffs will leave you crushed. A great example of this is after the bridge section in Chelsea Smile. The riffs are very inventive and left me throughly impressed.
Oli Sykes has gone for a more abrasive, hardcore punk vocal style and it is definatly an improvement.
The use of electronics and progressive longer songs are a welcome addition to the album and really show how much they have changed. More melodic moments are also really good especially the guest vocals from Architects singer Sam Carter in "Sadness will never end"
The only things i think detract from the album is some of the lyrical content and unnessiscary swearing, especially in "No Need For Introductions I've Read About Girls Like You On The Backs Of Toilet Doors" and also the unappealing front cover.
Bring Me The Horizon are a big name in the English alternative music scene and their latest album 'Suicide Season' is a very popular buy.
A different sound from their last album but not a let down 'Suicide Season' contains more of a Metalcore sound rather than the old Deathcore sound they had with 'Count Your Blessings'.
Using Down tuned Guitars and double bassed drumming, as well as Oli Sykes Signature Aggressive Vocal style and writing style you wont hear anywhere else 'Suicide Season' includes song after song of brutal breakdowns, gutiar melodies and 'Gang chants'.
Already 'Suicide Season' has had Two singles and Videos made for 'The Comedown' and 'Chelsea Smile' but also has had the interest to make more. This is a band going places and this album is whats taking them.
'Diamond's Arent Forever'
'It Was Written In Blood'
Overall a super album by a band that is already leading the alternative music scene. Worth buying.
