Advantages: Not much

Disadvantages: The tracks!

This must go down as one of the bigger disappointments. After the success of Jagged Little Pill, with a lot of good tunes, if a little angst-ridden, this album is, at best, bland and boring.

As happens so often, the best track, Thank U, was released as the first single from the album and that in itself should have been a warning, given how poor it is compared to tracks like Ironic, You Oughta Know, Head over Feet, etc from Jagged little Pill.

A one-off bad album or was JLP a one-off good one?

Sorry mate but I think you have completely missed the point of the album, it wasn't supposed to be another JLP. It was written after some serious navel-gazing by Ms Morrisette and is a reflection of what had changed for her. I can understand fans of JLP being disappointed with SFIJ, but just to dismiss it out of hand is wrong in my opinon. Alanis Morissette talks about therapy she has had (albeit covertly) and I find this insight into her psyche fascinating. She sings honestly about how she feels and I like that. I think there are loads of good tunes on it as well <grin>.
