... beloved capital, before we are treated to the beautiful tones of the lovely Helena Bonham Carter in The Worst Pies of London. Again, it is the stop-start, half-talking half-singing element of this song that appealed to me the most, and the darkness is once more focused upon. The soundtrack continues along the same vein for the majority of its course, the songs themselves telling the story. There is a small amount of dialogue during the film, with the majority of the storytelling, conversations and mood being set by...more

Premium Review Sweeney Todd: Demon Barber Of Fleet Street - Stephen Sondheim - Soundtrack: I love a bit of pie.........! (463 words)
by - written on 11/02/09 (Very useful, 61 readings)
Rating:

Johnny Depp was delightfully murderous in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, and although the film was very dark and the music certainly portrayed this, there was a very quirky and almost upbeat nature about a lot of the music associated with it. Musical maestro Stephen Sondheim applied his considerable musical talents to the soundtrack, composing and compiling the selection of 20 songs, setting the mood, heightening the tension, and amusing us with lyrical genius that you don't see every day. The second track on the disc is No Place Like London, which showcases Depp's excellent English accent by giving us a half-speaking half-singing piece ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Deluxe Edition (163 words)

Rating:

I went to see the film and absolutely loved it. The voices of Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter are amazing and Sondheim's music is both witty and dramatic. I bought the deluxe edition of the soundtrack for round £13 and was delighted with the package I got. The soundtrack itself is brilliant, you get 20 tracks, all the big ones from the film and they sound just as good. There's also a little bit of dialogue in there, not too much it's irritating but enough to get the story through listening through the soundtrack and so it all fits together. The CD comes in a cardboard sleeve, together with a 72 page book, featuring Cast list, track ...  Read the complete review

The three classic Indy scores finally expanded, and in generaly great sound. A landmark release Poor packaging, pitch issues, little mistakes here and there, not complete

Good orchestra All the songs sound the same!

Check op Pah - there aren't any!

Matches novel rather well, great artists None- I love it

The Sane Asylum - Blind Illusion
One of the finest and most interesting thrash performances of the eighties. Vocals are the weakest aspect, and the band never recorded anything else.

Seventeen Seconds - The Cure
A couple of the songs don't stink... um... Robert Smith was trying to be clever in his sparse instrumental arrangements and it back-fired!

Sacrifice - Black Widow
Early occult prog, with a fun gimmick if nothing else. Some experiments are less successful than others, particularly the chanting to Satan.

Perspective - Jason Becker
More Jason Becker material, in spite of his condition. Some experiments are less successful.

Goodbye Cruel World: Live & Rare Tracks - Brutal Truth
Heavy Metal - 1999

Faith - The Cure
The Cure's strongest set of songs when released, great arrangements for the most part Primary and Doubt, while not bad songs, stick out artistically

Bleed The Grey Sky Black - Bella Morte
Modern gothic rock that everyone can enjoy, even pretentious bigots like me. Lighter and poppier songs are disappointing compared to the more experimental offerings.

Blackberry Jams - Jason Becker
Some more material unearthed from Becker's all-too-brief musical career. Even less consistent than the previous collection.

Bestial - Black Cobra
Highly talented sludge doom from a two-man-band. Later songs make strange use of silence, which only gets in the way, but can presumably be skipped.

H418ov21.c - Beherit
Each song attempts something different. Each song is an abominable waste of time.
