Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy has been trusted with the music of such an important film. Directed and produced by Aamir Khan, it was always meant to be a high quality product. Taare Zameen Par is not the usual bollywood affair and its songs share the same quality.
As soon as the title track "Taare Zameen Par" starts, you know you are in for a treat. A song where children are termed as stars on ground, the lyrics are poetic and thoughtful. Prasoon Joshi's lyrics will give new meaning to the way you see your children, he blends children's characteristics with mother nature and the result is a brilliant song. Shankar's vocals never sounded more soothing and tranquile. The composing team needs to be applauded for coming up with such arrangements, the placement of chorus, etc!
Guitar strings open "Kholo kholo',sung by Raman Mahadevan. Belonging to the soft rock genre,it tells the audience of being confident of what you are,to open the windows and to follow your dreams. The song maintains its flow throughout the song and is a pleasant song to listen to in car or your ipod.
"Bum Bum Bole" starts with Aamir Khan reciting some gibberish which is followed by Shaan's silky voice. The beats are funky, the lyrics are innovative and the song is perfect for having a fun time with kids. Your kid will love this song and thats a promise!
"Jame Raho" is a complete mad song! The composers had to come up with a song which adds much to the narration of the film and they chose to go the wild way to make a full-on crazy song which has influences of rock. Vishal's voice is perfect for such a song which also takes a drastic turn to classical music which takes the song to a peak. This one is for uplifting your moods!
Shankar's "Maa" can easily win him the national award for the best singer and this was certainly the best song of 2007. The lyrics are brilliantly written from the kid's perspective who misses his mother and feels lonely by himself. This song will make you realise what your mother means to you and will make you cry like a kid. I am lost in my thoughts every single time I listen to this I'm moved to some other world. One of my all time favorites!
"Bheja Kum" is another song which adds to the narration,a song which is more of a collage of sounds and vocals rather than a song,it is something only for the screen. The album comes back to melody with the sweet and cute "Mera Jahan(My World)" sung by Adnan Sami. The lyrics are again very well written and the song is very pleasant to the ears. You will be lost in a trance while listening to this.
The album ends with "Ishaan's theme" which is a fantastic instrumental piece. The arrangements are brilliant and somehow portrays what the character is going through-the ups and downs. You will love it more if you generally like instrumentals.
Taare Zameen Par's soundtrack is certainly one not to be missed. A film which I beleive is the most relevant cinema ever, the soundtrack is nothing short of brilliant.
