Taking chances was released in Novemeber 2007,and Ive got to say Im a massive Celine Dion fan and so couldnt wait to get my hands on this cd,and sure enough it didnt disappoint. The album provided you with a wide variety fo songs and vocals (as is usual from Dion) From the track taking chances which is a beautiful yet typically poppy yet soulful sounding to the passionate and effortlessley seemless track Skies of LA, this album doesnt disappoint, for both new and old Celine Dion fans. My personal favourite track on this album was eyes on me, I liked this track as I felt it was edgy and just that little bit different for Dion,it had more of an ... Read the complete review

After 5 years treading the Las Vegas Circuit for reported millions, Celine Dion is back in the charts with a new English-language album. The album was recently accompanied by one of those silly An Audience With... ITV programs, where she actually only performed 3 songs from the album. A pointless exercise in promotion then. You have to wonder what the material is like when the only moderately good Taking Chances is her first UK single in eons, and she is too frightened to air the rest of it. Taking Chances opens with a gentle guitar chorus before bursting into a soaring chorus that tackles the upper elements of Celine's voice. As I mentioned already, its ... Read the complete review

Taking Chances is, astoundingly, the 35th album release in Celine Dion's career, which has spanned more than 25 years. The 13th English-speaking album from the Canadian chanteuse (the others are in French), Taking Chances comprises a lengthy, and at times varied selection of sounds and musical sounds from a wide selection of well-known producers and song-writers. Rest assured, however, that in spite of the album title, Ms Dion takes relatively few chances here and fans of her material will not go disappointed; but there is nothing groundbreaking here. Taking Chances will convert few fans to the sound of Celine. The singer's powerful vocals are as evident as ... Read the complete review

Post To Wire - Richmond Fontaine
Well-crafted songs telling poignant tales; great musicianship; evocative pedal steel
None to speak of
If Emotions Still Burn - Ablaze My Sorrow
A pleasant surplus of lead guitar melodies balanced out with some angry death metal.
Overly repetitive, and too similar to Dark Tranquillity and others to truly stand out.
Fur And Gold - Bat For Lashes
A completely unique experience, Natasha Khan is a talented lady!
Might be too avant-garde for many people.
Every Second Counts - Plain White T's
Hey There Delilah is a classic song
Could be longer
Drastic Fantastic - KT Tunstall
Some of the quieter songs are amazing
Not a collection you'll fall in love with, but still might enjoy
Dominate - Adagio
Competent and enjoyable progressive power metal.
A couple of terrible songs, and far too derivative of Symphony X.
Awkward Annie - Kate Rusby
an excellent album, lots of lovely songs
that one track with the dodgy harmonies
All The Lost Souls - James Blunt
A quality album from start to finish - Absolutely Brilliant!
Short album that can be heard in less than 40 mins
When The Kite String Pops - Acid Bath
Innovatively harsh-sounding, and effectively violent.
Too aggressive at cost to creativity, and not enough focus on pure doom metal.
Mi Sueno - Ibrahim Ferrer
Ferrer's beautiful voice, simple arrangements
None at all
