Advantages: Great compilation of tracks
Disadvantages: A few songs i was not so keen on
Tori Amos falls into a category of music that is slightly unusual. She sings with passion about her life's journey, all of which is uncensored, she doesn't gloss over tha bad times and over emphasis the good, shes brutally honest, refusing to settle for anything less than the truth in her songs. I think that's what makes them so inspiring, and so appealing. People want to hear that hey its not always great, but it can be sometimes, not that life is a fun filled bubble of fun all the time, those songs just ring hollow.
Amos has gone back to the singles on this cd, and changed them slightly, offering a new taste and sound for her listeners, even someone who already owns the previous albums can still get something new from this album. The only two which were not changed are "Angels" and "Snow Cherries from France" which I believe were new to this album.
Tori's most hard hitting track is "Me and a Gun" where she recalls the story of her assault. I think it is an amazing testimony to her courage and survival attitude that this song was written and performed, it is the most deserving track to be on this album. Tori sings the song with no background music, its just her voice, which makes the song even more intimate, you can't help but get pulled in with Tori, to hear her tale and her story of survival.
The weakest songs which I found on this track were "Bake baker" and "Playboy mummy," I can't put my finger on it but I just disliked theses tracks. However I feel that this is more my own taste rather then a criticism of Tori's music.

The cd cover and inlay are also very interesting. Tori presents the album as Library guide, she lists her songs under categories such as "Philosophy of Religion" for the song "God." This helps the listener to obtain yet more insight into Tori's songs, in some cases shedding a different light which may not have at first been openly interpreted.
This review is my own work, also posted on other sites.
Summary: Great album of tracks from Tori Amos
