The symphony is not much shorter than the First, but feels a lot more so than the First thanks to its energetic and vigorous working of its material. Also the overall feel of the symphony is not as melancholy and gloomy as the First, which in its turn contributes to the feel good nature of the work despite its minor keyed exposition.
