Advantages: lots of catchy stuff

Disadvantages: some weaker numbers

One of my favourite Swedish acts, the A Teens (who by this point dropped the Abba-Teens bit) are always capable of churning out solid pop stuff. This was their second album and is an improvement on the debut.

Who are they:

Marie Serneholt, Amit Paul, Dhani Lennevald and Sara Lumholdt make up the group. The girls tend to do most of the vocals though.

On this album:

'Upside Down' is as good a pop song as you're ever going to get. With a bouncy chorus, oodles of energy and cute verses you can't go wrong. It is the kind of song which S Club should have been doing! They follow up with 'To The Music' which is equally catchy and has one of those melodic choruses which gets stuck in the head. Not as instant as 'Upside Down' but a little more mellow and less shouty.

Other Highlights:

'Halfway Round The World' sounds like the kind of thing Abba would have been making if they were still going. It is full of sumptuous chord changes and a thunderous set of chimes in it give it some kick. I love 'Rockin' which allows the guys a chance to get a look in. Sounding like an old Backstreet Boys number, it is the kind of track you could do a great routine to with some mates. 'Firefly' is endearing too, with a charming and heartwarming chorus that will make the senses tingle.

Avoid:

'Sugar Rush' is just sickly and lacks finesse and I also found 'Morning Light' rather drab in comparison to the other solid tunes.

Overall:

Thirteen tracks, a superb set of cover artwork and plenty of bouncy pop. If you like Abba, Steps and that sort of rousing pop, then this will appeal

Summary: brill

I remember looking forward to their first single being released (still have it somewhere), I'd forgotten all about them.
