Advantages: Great story telling, funny, gorgeous voice
Disadvantages: Can sound a little samey after you've heard the whole album
Kate has a beautiful distinctive voice that is a dream to listen to. I can immediately tell who it is when her voice comes on my ipod.
Who is Kate Rusby?
Kate is a 33 year old woman originally from Sheffied. She has had a long and successful career (15 years), even if she is not all that well known commercially. Her love is traditional songs and this clearly comes through on her album.
What i think:
All her songs tell a story which not only makes the album a joy to listen to but interesting at the same time. She is a true northern lass, which im sure is another reason why i love her so much. I'd not heard of her before i bought this record, but since then ive learned she is a regular at folk festivals. My favourite song from the album is Let me be-it tells a tale of how people say the girl in the song should get married and settle down but shes happy being young and free. This whole album is refreshing and completely different to anything else that i own. I regularly choose it to listen to when i want to relax in the bath or have a good ole sing song! You wont be disappointed if you buy.
Summary: Escapism at its best
