This is a collection of some early ep's released by Mogwai and is definitely worth every penny you pay for it. Rather than waiting around for something to happen, Stuart Braithwaite and Co. head straight for the jugular on each the nine tracks. I had this album 6 months before I listened to it, due in part to the letdown that was their CODY album. Ten Rapid has restored my faith in them completely. Mogwai's great gift has always been their ability to layer on the bombast without ever sounding bombastic. This is a compilation of Mogwai’s earliest releases, rather than an album full stop, if my source (i.e. my memory) is to be believed. As you'd expect from an earlier effort, it's not quite as polished as the outstanding Young Team. However, it contains a selection of brilliant tunes, the best of which rival what Young Team has to offer. If you, like me, bought Come On Die Young after falling in love with Mogwai through listening to Young Team, then I expect you, like me, ended up being a little disappointed. Before Mogwai released 'Young Team', the band released a few singles which were received quite well, but not quite as well as hardly anyone knew them, believe it or not; but some of those gems deserved to be heard again after dissapearing from shelves of seedy little record stores, due to copies being limited in nature. Thankfully, the band re-released the best of those tracks as a compilation called 'Ten Rapid' to mainly introduce them to the new US audience, aswell as give existing fans a chance to catch up on the old stuff.
