Advantages: An excellent live album, fantastic from start to finish.

Disadvantages: The songs all sound very similar, this may put some off listening.

Bad Religion is an American punk rock band that has been around now since 1980. The band was inactive between the years of 1984 and 1986, the band has been very active ever since however and fourteen studio albums have now been released. 'Tested' is a live album that Bad Religion released in 1997, it was recorded in 1996 in a number of different countries across the world; Canada, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Italy, Estonia, and the USA also. 'Tested' consists of 27 tracks, 24 of which were recorded live and a final three were newly recorded in the studio for inclusion on this album.

What is so excellent about this album is the way in which the bands crisp and energetic live performance is captured here; it's a live album but sounds as though the band could easily have recorded the whole thing in a studio. If you like Bad Religion then you'll absolutely love this live album, it includes such excellent tracks as 'Punk Rock Song', 'Pity The Dead', 'Change Of Ideas', and 'American Jesus' also. The music of Bad Religion does I feel all sound incredibly similar; the great thing about this though is that if you like one track then you're bound to love them all. Bad Religion has always been one of my favourite American punk rock bands, with this 'Tested' album the true energy and excellence of the Bad Religion live sound has been captured and this is something that provides for a truly entertaining listening experience.

The production of 'Tested' is incredibly clean, instead of using crowd microphones the band simply tapped the inputs here and therefore what you hear here is purely the band playing its instruments, smashing outs its incredible vocal style, and putting out that fine Bad Religion sound. Having witnessed the band live I must say that the band is absolutely excellent when it performs, if you're ever after that Bad Religion live sound on an evening though and are unable to physically get out there and go to one of the bands shows then there's nothing better than whipping out this 'Tested' album and pumping out the music in the player.

This 'Tested' album truly is excellent, for any Bad Religion fan this is a must own release and for all those with a fond appreciation for punk rock music then this is an album that I'd definitely recommend investing in. From start to finish the music is fantastic here, and given that I bought this album from my local music store for a mere price of £6 this truly is exceptional value for 27 tracks of music and 66 minutes of sound. Definitely buy 'Tested' if you're a big Bad Religion fan, I've had this album for a good few years now and listened to it on many an occasion; I'm sure you'll be just as fond of this album as I am.
