Advantages: Megadeth live

Disadvantages: No David Ellefson

"That One Night: Live in Buenos Aires" is a live album by American thrash giants, Megadeth. It was released in 2007 on the Image Entertainment label and produced by Shalini Waran & Michael Sarina. The line-up for the album was Dave Mustaine (vocals/guitar), Glen Drover (guitar), James MacDonough (bass) and Shawn Drover (drums).

If you've never seen Megadeth live, this album will give your ears a wake-up call to tell you that you should see them live. There are 22 songs on the album over two discs in what is a very good set-list, and it's clear that Dave Mustaine in particular loves playing in South America and Argentina, but the inevitable struggle for the band is a consistent line-up. James MacDonough would leave the band shortly afterwards and Glen Drover would call it quits a year later.

What about the songs on this double CD though? Well, if you're already a Megadeth fan, all your favourites are here. Staple concert songs such as "Peace Sells", "In My Darkest Hour" and "Hangar 18" as well as rotated tunes like "She-Wolf", "Set the World Afire" and "Tornado of Souls" are all performed.

Highlights include the amazing "I'll be There" with the band stopping playing near the end to let the crowd sing the rest of it. On the DVD, you can see Mustaine is clearly touched by this and the emotion runs high. The band also performs a blistering version of "Wake Up Dead" and the sound on "Trust" is perfect.

In summary, while there are other live albums out there you may be considering buying, not many bands do it in the style of Megadeth. Dave Mustaine is a master of riffs and solos, helped along by Glen Drover. It's not David Ellefson on bass, and in a way it's noticeable, but not to a degree of a bad performance; James MacDonough is a more than competent bass player. This is a really good live album, and your collection needs its presence.
