Advantages: unbelievable music, artist insight

Disadvantages: price, if you're not a fan

The Aeroplane Flies High (or TAFH as it's known in fan circles) is undoubtedly one of the greatest collections of music that came out in the 90's.

On a cautionary note, I would not recommend this purchase to someone who is not very familiar with the Pumpkins or just getting into the music. This box set is best suited for long-time fans or people who have money to burn.

For those who are interested and don't know, TAFH is the set of 5 singles from Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, and was released the year following the double disk masterpiece.

It contains a total of 33 tracks, including one that is a collection of short musical samples from a huge number of unreleased songs. TAFH reveals a number of previously unreleased gems, including a number of covers that an 80's enthusiast may find interesting (Cars, Missing Persons, etc.)

The beauty of TAFH lies in the great variety of SP songs present, from heavy rockers to touching ballads, all with the amazing lyrics and inventiveness we've come to expect from Billy Corgan.

For me, the greatest songs in this set are the ones with simple production, seeming unfinished critically but so much more the precious for those of us who recognize band talent from raw output rather than the glossy releases that have seen more polish than creativity.

If you're a fan and can spend the money, it's worth every penny. The Aeroplane Flies High is a collectible, and represents a fuller picture of an entire era in the history of a great band.

Listen well.

I really would perfer if they released this as a standard double album at normal price rather than just the box set as its just top expensive to jusify buying (esp. when you consider I hardly ever listen to singles).

I'm sorry but TAFH is not £100! If that's what it cost you then you were robbed.

When I got it, it was about £40, and the most I've ever seen it selling for is around £55.

Classic set though, good op...you beat me too it, I recommended this and was just gonna write an op. Oh well, better late than never.
