This is the best Elvis Greatest Hits album that I know of. A double CD containing a whopping 45 tracks, it covers pretty much all the bases. As such it's rather better than the recent Number Ones compilation, which only included songs that topped the charts (the Beatles' Red and Blue compilations are better than the "1" compilation for the same reason). The only thing missing from this collection is that 'Little Less Conversation' song that was used in the football advert during the world cup last year. Because of the huge number of songs I'm only going to provide the briefest thumbnail sketches of most of them in order to save both ... Read the complete review

It can be a daunting experience picking up a Elvis best of compilation. Due to RCA exploiting his back catalogue the 1st time buyer is faced with a plethora of Hits sets, Themedalbums (Rocker, Gospel, movie soundtracks) and various other Tat ranging from single CD's with LOADS missing right away up to The Artist of The Century 3 CD box set. It's a hard decision if you want value for money: a set that covers the absolute essentials while sounding decent enough. Firstly it's simply impossible to cover Presley's career on one single CD, he had so many hits, 3 very different decades: each with its own fan base, and covered so many styles (RaR, Crooner ... This 2-disc set has been deleted but is available used from Amazon UK at a very reasonable price (just over £2). It features 64 classic tracks from the King Of Rock and Roll, spread across 2 discs, and is a good starting point if you are trying to decide whether or not to build up a collection of his music. Amongst the great tracks on this album are songs from the 1950s (such as HEARTBREAK HOTEL and the title song from Elvis' first film LOVE ME TENDER), the 1960s (including IT'S NOW OR NEVER and ARE YOU LONESOME TONIGHT), and my favourite period of the King's life, the 1970s (including the wonderful songs MY BOY and the highly underrated MOODY ... I've always been a big Elvis Presley fan, growing up his music was on all the time in our house. I like to think I've kept the tradition going in my own family home as my son is a big fan of Elvis too, so he had no problem with putting this Elvis Greatest record on my new MP3 player. As you'd expect with a compilation of Elvis hits, it's a double CD cramming pretty much all the best hits from the king of rock 'n' roll! It has a total of 45 songs on it including my favourites 'Suspicious Minds' (karaoke fav of mine - after I've had a couple of white wines!) 'Burnin' Love' and 'Return to Sender'. I won't waste space writing down every track that is on it, you ... Read the complete review
