AFI had to follow up their breakthrough album black sails in the sunset with another quality album. The art of drowning does not disappoint. It kicks off with the rapid and classic 'the lost souls' which sets a great tempo for the rest of the album. This is followed up by superb tracks such as 'sacrifice theory' and 'of greetings and goodbyes' all fast punk rock tracks. Then comes the most popular song of the album 'the days of the phoenix' which is a really powerful song. The album is capped off well by 'morningstar' which slows the album to a dramatic end.
