Rating:
'The Art of Losing' is the 2003 album release from the American rock band that is American Hi-Fi. It was their second studio album and features the singles 'The Art of Losing' and 'The Breakup Song'. Fronted by vocalist Stacy Jones who had formerly been a drummer in both Veruca Salt and Letters to Cleo, American Hi-Fi produce a powerful brand of music which combines elements of pop punk, powerpop, and alternative rock to great effect. 'The Art of Losing' is an excellent album from the band and is in fact one that I have listened to many a time over the years. Opening with title track 'The Art of Losing', this album begins with a bang and never do American ... Read the complete review

American Hi-Fi hit the world of pop/punk and rock 'n' roll with the self-titled first album back in 2001. formed by Stacy Jones after he left Letters To Cleo (probably only known over here as the band playing on the rooftop at the end of the film "Ten Things I Hate About You") to go his own way. Dragonslayer - Dream Evil
Tribute to classic metal, with appropriate modern power metal influence. Incredibly catchy.
Cheesy.
Dream Evil - Dio
A last chance for 1980s Dio.
Less impressive than earlier albums.
Enter Suicidal Angels - Dark Tranquillity
Death Metal - 1996
Enthrone Darkness Triumphant - Dimmu Borgir
fast, melodic, varied
lost is the old sound, the mid tempo melancholy
Evilized - Dream Evil
Very little stands out.
A few good riffs here and there, and the style doesn't wear thin until the second track.
Existence - Dark Suns
Distinctive and impressive modern prog.
Lacks excitement as the album plods on.
Expanding Senses - Darkane
Interesting take on the thrash/death mix.
Style becomes repetitive.
Exposures: In Retrospect And In Denial - Dark Tranquillity
Excellent live performance, great chance to hear rare songs.
B-side material is mostly (and inevitably) forgettable.
Fairytales And Reality - Dionysus
Getting there.
Still in the shadow of other bands.
Embrace Of Memory - Darkestrah
Some catchy, traditional black metal.
Later songs sound too similar, and less interesting.
