Advantages: Excellent thrash metal
Disadvantages: None unless you don't like thrash metal
Thrash metal suffered a bit of a blip at the end of the 90s and early millenium but Exodus is a band who came back early with 2 strong albums in Tempo of the Damned (2004) and Shovel Headed Killing Machine (2005), this third album cements a solid comeback this decade for the band headed by guitarist Gary Holt. It's the second album to feature the vocals of Rob Dukes.
The Atrocity Exhibion A is thrash metal at its best, long and brutal tracks are carved out by killer riffs, awesome shredding and tough lyrics to match. "Funeral Hymn" is an immense number that just seems to get better and better as it goes on as well as the more times you listen to it! "Bedlam 1-2-3" starts off at a slow pace with a damning bass line and builds up to a raucous frenzy, the vocals are pretty wild and remind me a little bit of Macabre or Pantera on Vulgar Display of Power. The track is not 19 minutes long itself but features around 10 minutes of silence and then a hidden track which is a country version (tongue in cheek) of the band's first big hit Bonded by Blood.. labeled Bonded by Banjo
This is wild, enjoyable stuff (the album in general) not just the latter track and must have for fans of metal. Atrocity Exhibition A will be followed up by Atrocity Exhibition B this year, of which 4 tracks have already been recorded supposedly! I look forward to it!
1. "Call to Arms" - 1:33
2. "Riot Act" - 3:37
3. "Funeral Hymn" - 8:38
4. "Children of a Worthless God" - 8:25
5. "As It Was, as It Soon Shall Be" - 5:16
6. "The Atrocity Exhibition" - 10:33
7. "Iconoclasm" - 7:54
8. "The Garden of Bleeding" - 5:49
9. "Bedlam 1-2-3" - 19:51

Summary: A must have album for metal fans
