Advantages: Amazing music

Disadvantages: -

Radiohead have a bit of a reputation in some circles as producing dull music that drives people to suicide. I personally think this is a ridiculous statement, but one that I hear all too often (maybe my friends are all too old to listen to Radiohead?). Yes, some of their music is slow and Thom Yorke's voice can sound dreary and depressing, but in my opinion this only adds to the emotion and feeling in their music.

'The Bends' was their second album and is my favourite of all that they have produced to date. It was originally released back in 1995.

Songs you might recognise from it include:

'Just' - This song has been brought back to public's attention with Mark Ronson cover version. Obviously I feel the original is far superior. From the first guitar strum this song is a classic. It's rocky start dies away for a steady build up to a memorable catchy chorus.

'High and Dry' - This is a beautiful chilled out track, with an acoustic guitar base throughout. The music's gentle feel gives a perfect backing to some magically soothing Yorke vocals.

'Fake Plastic Trees' - You feel like you are climbing a mountain of emotion listening to this song. With the gentle incline at the start which gradually turns into a veritable ROCK face, ending with a well earned rest towards the end of the song.

'My Iron Lung' - This has a different feel to it than most of the other songs on the album. There is always an underlying threat that this song will erupt with atitude and it does for each of the choruses. Fantastic guitar playing, a real song to sing-a-long to and release some tension!

All of the songs are beautifully sung and the music is extremely good. It fills me with emotion every time I listen to this album, so I recommend you add it to your record collection if it doesn't have pride of place already!

Summary: One of the best albums ever!
