Advantages: Simply stunning. It must be owned.

Disadvantages: Nope

This is an utterly amazing album. Every song on The Bends is brilliant, and I genuinely mean that. There ae no fillers whatsoever – all of the tracks could have been singles. The general publuc would seem to agree with me on this, as The Bends has recently beaten the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper to number 2 in Virgin's poll of greatest albums of all time (OK Computer, incidentally, was at number 4).

The songs on this album are all excellent, and varied in style and mood. The beautiful Street Spirit is simple, haunting and lovely. Just (the song which has won over many a metal fan) is punky, spiky and angry. Fake Plastic trees is thoughtful and pretty. Planet Telex shows off Thom Yorke's singing to the full - just try and reach those high notes and still sound dignified. Fake Plastic trees is thoughtful, warm, and strangely uplifting. I could go on.

Every single song on this outstanding album is worthy of a great deal of praise - and that is something which can be said of very, very few records. Nothing short of brilliant, even down to the lyrics, this album, suffice it to say, is a must have.
