The brainchild of musician and producer Nick Bracegirdle (cool name, eh?), Chicane has been a stalwart of the ambient/chill out scene since 1996. Plagued by legal battles with record labels, Chicane has struggled to maintain a string presence in commercial music charts but has gathered enough of a following to justify a greatest hits compilation that peaked inside the top 20 in the latter part of 2008. Chicane is essentially one man, Nick Bracegirdle. Famed for being press shy and not the most interesting person to interview. It is fortunate then that his music is very good. Style of music: Since his debut in 1996 with the track 'Offshore', Chicane have continued to make Ibiza drenched dance music, often with ambient undetones and sweeping melodies.
