Advantages: Classic tracks each one great in its own way.
Disadvantages: -
For me there are way too many best of albums floating around and most bands, groups or singers that release them haven't had enough decent hits to fill a single CD but attempt to fill double albums. The best of Simple minds is completely different however because they are a real band that had real hits and some of their songs deserve to be remembered in this way.
Now I still understand that although this band had many great hits and I really enjoyed listening to them all again that the release of this type of album is still just to generate revenue for these now ageing bands. Nowadays we can pick and choose which tracks to download and make our own compilation CD`s so eventually this type of release will be a thing of the past but I have to say if I had made this album myself it would not be much different .

I am sure if you remember the music of Simple minds you can instantly pick out a serious amount of iconic tracks from those listings. If you do not know the music of this band then it can best be described as indie rock and each and every one of their tracks contained lyrics with real meaning as well as instrumental accompaniment of the highest order with excellent guitar and drum solo`s in certain tracks that still take my breath away to this day.
Some of their music could also be described as haunting, such as the brilliant Belfast child and War Babies. Then you can go from that to catchy upbeat rhythmic classics like Don't You (Forget about me) and Alive and kicking. This album has something for everyone and if you do not know their music then it is a must try, whereas if you do know there music you may have many of the tracks already but why not treat yourself to a complete collection of brilliance on two discs?
Summary: A must have for fans and a must try for others!
