True Romance
by sharktrager - written on 03/04/02 (Useful, 1740 readings)
Rating:
It's a sad fact that in the 1990s it seemed that almost every movie released had a soundtrack CD that had little to do with the movie. 'Songs From And Inspired By...' became a phrase that I came to dread, as it usually meant that hardly any of the music heard on the album got anywhere near the film (except perhaps over the closing credits, but often not even there), and the orchestral score which most movies still had wouldn't get anywhere near the CD. It was a relief then when I bought the CD soundtrack album to TRUE ROMANCE. For a film which has so much excellent music in it (both songs and score) I was worried that although many of the songs would appear on the ...

Now That's What I Call Music! 44
by pmcds - written on 01/02/09 (Very useful, 24 readings)
Rating:
Now 44 is one of my favourite Now That's What I Call Music compilations in the history of the series. Released at the end of 1999, it featured many of the successful tracks from the Summer and Autumn of 1999, which, for me, holds many fun memories at University. As such, I listened to a lot of this music at the time, and having Now 44 was symbolic for this time for me. The format follows the same as other Now CDs, with the more commercial and poppy tracks featuring on the first disc, and the dancier tracks on the second disc. Disc 1 (20 tracks) is brilliant. with y favourite track being perhaps the extremely catchy Mambo No.5 from Lou Vega. The hit of the end of summer/beginning ...

by Ooze - written on 26/08/00 (Very useful, 45 readings)
Rating:
Now 44 was available around the end of 1999 and start of 2000. Like all of the ‘Now that’s what I call music’ it consists of most of the top hits of recent months and was (and possibly still is) available on double CD or Cassette. Like most of the Now series one disc/cassette appears to be better than the other. Disc 1 has all ...
