I first purchased this album in 1989 as a very rare bootleg. It didn't leave my turntable for nearly 6 months as I absolutely listened to it to death. Now, 12 years on, it's humour and dark funk make it stand out as possibly the last great album Prince produced before his sharp decline in the 90s. Even thoough I still avidly buy just about anything the purple one releases, he has yet to regain his quality of output achieved in the 80s.
