Advantages: Great songs, classic Travis

Disadvantages: Some songs aren't as strong as singles

Travis isn't one of the most popular bands around but everyone knows who they are. Their most popular song is Why Does it Always Rain On Me. They are an alternative rock band and are originally from Glasgow. This is their fifth album and they released another last September called Ode to J. Smith. Their other famous songs include Sing, Side, Driftwood, Turn and many others. They also played at the Live 8 concert. They recently cameoed in the hit film Son of Rambow as teachers similar to the ones they played in the video of Driftwood.

My favourite tracks from this album are:

(1) 3 times and you lose, a slow intro flows into a great song. Typical Travis with the music provided by acoustic chords with lead guitar, bass and drums. Fran's singing is great as usual. A great way to start the album.

(2) Selfish Jean, another great song. A great into starts off a good song. Fran's singing again is excellent as are all the instruments. I like the lyrics especially "don't rock the boat when you don't know how to swim."

(3) Closer, this was the first single I heard from the album. The video is especially good and features a cameo from Ben Stiller who is a friend of the band. This is a slower song but still very good all the while.

(5) Battleships, another great song. The instruments are great as is the singing, I'm baffled why after so many good songs like this that this got a bad review from NME.

(7) My Eyes, this was another single released from the album. The lyrics are great. The video is amusing as well.

Overall a great album, it has some really great singles and a must if you like Travis or want to know who helped influence bands like Keane, Coldplay and Snow Patrol.

Summary: A great album after a hard earned break, a bargain get it now
