Advantages: Some excellent acoustic music intelligently written and crafted.

Disadvantages: The production is not always as fine as it possibly could be.

Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly is Southend's Sam Duckworth. The man writes powerful acoustic music and is influenced by the likes of Roni Size, Athlete, The Streets, and Rival Schools; quite an eclectic mix of influences really. Released in 2006, 'The Chronicles Of A Bohemian Teenager' is his début album and consists of twelve excellent tracks. Many times I have listened to this album, it is not the best in the world but a good one nonetheless.

For me this album is containing of some obvious highlights. The tracks 'I-Spy', 'Whitewash Is Brainwash', and 'The Chronicles Of A Bohemian Teenager (Part Two)' for instance have a distinctly long lasting impact on me and I most certainly can't go without mentioning them. These are the sorts of tracks that I can never quite dislodge from my mind, no matter how much I'd like to at times. The music is laid back acoustic Indie with elements of folk rock, it is greatly effective in its approach and is music that you can really relax to. 'Whitewash Is Brainwash' is a particular favourite of mine, of the three named it is most definitely my favourite and is in fact my favourite Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly track to date. With a new album due out in a couple of months it may not remain so for long, but in the mean time it holds firm as the best track I feel Sam Duckworth has ever written.

This album was recorded mostly in the bedroom of Sam Duckworth in Southend and herein lies the problem I have with this album. Whilst the music is often excellent, the quality of the recording is at times extremely poor and listening to the album can sometimes be somewhat of a chore. The music may be brilliant, but you get the distinct impression that if it were better produced then the album would be a hell of a lot more effective.

The lyrics of Sam Duckworth as Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly are extremely angry, he has a lot to say about the world in which we live and a lot of what he says is not very positive at all. He is extremely opinionated and the lyrics he sings are intelligently and poetically spoken, he certainly knows the best way of getting himself heard. A lot of people have much to say, but most have little to offer. Sam Duckworth puts across his ideas well and makes his voice heard, you want to hear what he has to say and believe what he offers due to his passionate and persuasive nature.

This début album from Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly is definitely one that I would recommend. The music is powerful and much is put across in the lyrics of Sam Duckworth. The music is intelligent and interesting, you can tell that the man is speaking his mind and the way in which he does so makes you want to listen on and hear all that he has to offer. The album is twelve tracks long and yet I could easily listen to much, much more. When you listen to this album you tend to get lost in the world of the music, a world you will not leave until the record comes to its end. Some will enjoy this music whilst others will no doubt detest it, you can never please everyone with your music but the lyrics most certainly offer messages for everyone in all walks of life. When I listen to this album I feel moved by the music and as though Sam Duckworth is really achieving something with his music. He has found an effective way of putting his opinions across and I personally am a massive fan of what he has to say and the messages the music conveys.

Summary: An excellent début album from Southend's Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.
