Rock legends, Fleetwood Mac stunned home grown American audiences when the band announced a one off special come back gig with the original ‘Rumours’ line up. Despite all the tantrums, splits and divorces that have cloaked the band with the same sensationalism as Electro Shock Treatment, they still managed to hold their heads up high and smile affectionately at each other throughout the performance. It was filmed for television and shown so late one night on BBC1 that the entire world forgot to tape it. The ‘soundtrack’ of the phenomenal occurrence was this perfectly produced album, ‘The Dance.’ With a inner sleeve that depicts the band in incredulous poses ... Read the complete review

Have you ever noticed what an overused term the word 'supergroup' is? Now I'm not talking about groups that people think are super. God no! If that were the case then we would probably have to include the S Club 7's, Steps and Hear'Say's of this world, and imagine what a mess we would be in- it doesn't bear imagining. The term supergroup is not used much in terms of the modern beat combos that you find enjoying their fifteen minutes of fame on the CD players of the youth of today. It is used to refer to those groups that have defied many things, but principally have defied age and the barriers that exist therewith. One of these groups ... Read the complete review

If you watch one Video concert release this, the live recording of the Fleetwood Mac reunion tour of 1997 should be it. If you were at the concert, I salute you and will be forever envious of you. I missed an opportunity to go to the show at the Ice Palace Arena in Tampa. If you possess the CD, fine - but you have not experienced the whole thing. This is the way to take the blindfold off. I own both (the DVD and the CD). As far as I can tell, they are from the same recording venue. I enjoy both, but for different reasons. The CD is portable (at home, in the car) and salutes the music of a great group. The video is (in the main) a static medium but salutes ... Read the complete review

Every few years, Fleetwood Mac rearranges itself and its music. Every few years, it gets better and better, and it was pretty darned fine to start with. The struggles of its members with broken love affairs, drugs and band breakup nearly wrecked the group for good. But once again, with this album, its members have proven their resilience and talent. This album was recorded live on tour and presents 17 cuts, including such old favorites as Dreams, Silver Springs, and Go Your Own Way. It tops off with Don't Stop (Thinking About Tomorrow), which the Clinton crowd borrowed as a campaign theme, and Tusk, a strange, pulsating and ... Read the complete review

With the music challenge of mine getting some very kind comments and some useful contributions , I thought I'd continue with a music review or two , starting with...... ?The Dance? - Fleetwood Mac ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The comeback tour for the Mac v7 , ie Mick Fleetwood , John McVie , Chrisine McVie , Stevie Nicks & Lyndsey Buckingham , recorded for posterity and released in 1997 on album , cassette and CD , and also caught on camera by MTV. Ironically they only got back together after LB asked MF to do a track on a new album he was working on , which they enjoyed doing , got talking and here?s the result. Fleetwood Mac (v7) are ... Ambitious and enthusiastic rock opera for sci-fi/fantasy fans.
Confusing moral message, some really bad lyrics and some boring songs.

Arch Enemy ditches the pretence that they were ever really a death metal band.
Overlong and often tedious songs.

Solid modern heavy metal with good vocals.
Doesn't recapture the old spirit.
Evil Is Forever - Astral Doors
An improvement with further power metal influence and epic songs done properly.
Hammond organ and other hard rock throwbacks.
Anthems Of Rebellion - Arch Enemy
Angrier and more powerful direction, losing the rubbish TV game show guitars.
Stands out less as a result.
Actual Fantasy - Ayreon
Approachable Ayreon without the flamboyance.
Less distinctive and exciting as a result.
01011001 - Ayreon
Interesting concept and some enjoyable prog metal for Ayreon fans.
Feels like a derivative step backwards, and constrained by concept.
