The Devil You Know is the 2009 album by Heaven & Hell which is the former Black Sabbath line-up: Ronnie James Dio, Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi and Vince Appice, these godfathers of metal are more than hanging on in there and put in an exceptionally strong performance on this collaboration. It's classic Sabbath - sludgy, progressing at ust the right speed with bursts of energy at exactly the right time. I don't want to bring up the age of the artists too much but I do find it remarkable how much power these guys put into the work. It has a slightly power metal edge to it with a slight Iron Maiden sound about the choruses. Even the names of the songs should ... Read the complete review

Whilst looking through the H's in HMV (metal section - checking out Helloween, if I am honest), I spotted this album - heck it was actually glaring at me, maybe even leaping out to get my attention. I was curious, but cannot say I was rushing to get my wallet out and take it to the till, my hands all a tremble. No, there was none of that. I knew basically who Heaven and Hell were, but thought of buying a brand new by them was not at the top of my list of priorities... Who are Heaven and Hell?
