Advantages: Some great tracks to dance to

Disadvantages: Some of the songs arent great and get very annoying

Fergie started off with Black Eyed Peas and they were a great success. She then decided to bring out a solo album and this is what I'm going to review. I will go through each track listing the track time and my mark out of 5 for each track.

* Fergalicious - feat Will.I.Am: (4.52) 2/5
This song seems to be all over the place it's just like bits of different music all put together. It's about Fergie being great and 'Fergalicious' which means she's tasty. It's a funky song which is upbeat but it is a strange song. Will.I.Am raps throughout the song. There is a computerised feel to it which is a very fast beat like the track is skipping.

* Clumsy: (4.00) 3/5
The beat to this song sounds like computerised wooden blocks being beaten together. The drums sound like garbage bins being hit together. It's very catchy and repetitive. It's all about Fergie being clumsy because she's fallen in love. She hasn't put a lot of effort into the words however it is very light hearted.

* All That I Got (the Make Up Song) - feat Will.I.Am: (4.05) 3/5
A slower song which is about Fergie wanting to know if the man she's with is serious about her and does he love her without all the makeup or beauty products she uses. It's got a nice beat to it and has a dreamy feel to it with her looking into the future.

* London Bridge: (4.01) 4/5
This is why I bought this album. It's a very catchy song. It sounds like sirens are being played in the background with the trumpet keeping the beat and drums playing. The song makes you want to go out and have some fun. Its about Fergie going out and she's having fun however things start to go wrong and she drinks too much, too much paparazzi are in her face (she refers to things going wrong as her London bridge wanting to go down).

* Pedestal: (3.22) 4/5
Fergie sings in a very high pitched voice which gives an eerie effect, it's also got the piano playing in high pitched notes so it sounds like pantomime music. The chorus goes to a very low base music. The song is her asking why people are constantly putting her down and think they know her but they don't. She's asking who they are, what their background is and what makes them think they are above her. She feels they shouldn't say bad things about her as they haven't walked in her shoes to know what it is like. They think they are better than her but they are not and she's breaking down their pedestal they have put themselves onto.

* Voodoo Doll: (4.23) 2/5
Got a Reggie feel to it at the start, there is whispering like it's an evil ghost talking. The song sounds to me like something is after her and it sounds like she's chanting near the end of the song saying that they are coming to get her.

* Glamorous (feat Ludacris): (4.06) 4/5
Fergie is singing to an upbeat tune but she's singing softly making it feel fairy tail like. She's talking about expensive things and being rich, saying they are not important and don't mean anything. Fergie claims she's still real doing what normal everyday people do and she likes to reminisce with her family of how her life was before she was famous. Ludacris raps in the middle which sort of ruins it. She tells you that she's got loads of problems and people telling her what to do. That the industry is cold and her father told her if she had no money to take her broke ass home. She thanks the fans for making her money which she has in the bank. I think its just a message to tell people that being famous is not all it seems or as prefect as it seem plus it was a long road until she has gotten to where she is.

* Here I Come: (3.21) Feat Will.I.Am: 2/5
This has got a very funky beat with a lot of rapping including Will.I.Am in the background with him rapping in the versus as well. It's about her keeping it fresh and to get ready because any minute she will be rolling through and no-one rips it like her. It's really her singing about how good she is. The song is repetitive and not very interesting, to me its album filler. You could dance to this song but it's not really one you would find yourself singing along to. I find myself skipping this track a lot.

* Velvet: (4.53) 1/5
The start of this song sounds like an All Saints song to me. It's a slow song which has people harmonising making it sound dreamy. It's about her falling in love and quite frankly it sends me to sleep I don't like it at all.

* Big Girls Don't Cry: (4.28) 5/5
I love this song it's a slow paced song with a good beat. Mostly just the guitar and orchestra are playing in the background. When I'm travelling to and from places I listen to a lot of music. This song makes me think of home probably because it was released just before I left home. It's the type of song you can listen to over and over again. The song is about her needing to straighten out herself and be a big girl, She has to go alone on her path which is why her partner is away back to his home town but she's going to miss him.

* Mary Jane Shoes: (3.55) 4/5
Got a Reggie vibe to it with drums beating to a beat that makes you want to get up and dance. It's quite a laid back song about Fergies Mary Jane shoes and how they make her feel special. At the end of the song it all changes to a rock and roll vibe when she says her shoes make her want to go crazy.

* Losing my Ground: (4.08) 3/5
It's got a Spanish vibe to it with the guitars strumming. It starts off soft but gets very dramatic by the end of the song like she's getting more distressed. The song is about her not knowing who she is and she's losing her ground but doesn't want to go back there again.

* Finally: (4.53) 3/5
It's a slow song which reminds me of something Disney would have in one of their films. Classical music is playing with the piano playing softly and the orchestra giving it that fairy tail feeling to it, like you could get lost in the song and Fergie gets to show off her great voice. I have seen her sing live and she was amazing. At certain points it reminds me of Christina Aguilera's song "Who's that Girl I See" the one she sang for Mullan. The song is about Fergie dreaming about a Cinderella themed love but she has to wait. She finally fell in love after making mistakes. It's not really a song which attracts your attention and I can't really see it ever being a hit.

* Get Your Hands Up: (3.33) 2/5
Sounds like a Black Eyed Peas song it's upbeat and has them singing in it. You could dance to it easily. It has a lot happening so it's hard to sing along to. It's a song for you to get your hands up and to dance to the song. To me it's not really a Fergie song and doesn't really fit into the album and it should be on a Black Eyed Pea album instead. Fergie doesn't sing most of the song either.

* Wake Up: (6.36) 2/5
This is very grungy music. Fergie raps a lot and screams through most of the song. Electric guitars play throughout the song which leaves it sounding very aggressive. The song doesn't last the full 6.36 minutes either it only lasts 3minutes. You wouldn't think that it was Fergie singing it and shows a different side to her. It's the type of song you can dance and shout the chorus "Wake up, Wake up". I think it is about people using her and her waking up to the fact that they are doing it.

* Maybe we can take a Ride: (2.30 minutes) 1/5 Hidden Track
It has trumpets playing in the background and she's singing a slow song. It's really just her singing "maybe we can take a ride" over and over again which gets very annoying. I don't see the point to this song. It ends like the radio is cutting out or the batteries are running out.

OVERALL
I would give this album 3/5. I wouldn't rush out to buy it. It does vary a lot with different types of music suiting different moods. I would call it quite quirky however a lot of the songs are weak and get annoying after a while. Half of the album is songs worth listening to and the other half I don't really bother and skip them out all the time.
