Advantages: glamorous
Disadvantages: the title song
Fergie, not to be confused with The Duchess Of York found fame with The Black Eyed Peas before branching off an launching her brand of stylish r and b pop. This is her debut album and is a good start to a promising career.
Who is she:
Fergie supplies the lead vocals in the Black Eyed Peas. She is also a fitness fanatic and believes in looking good in her videos.
On this album:
'London Bridge' is as shouty as you like with a chorus which could cause a small riot on a bar. It is not very melodic and though it boasts plenty of attitude, you can't help feeling its a lot of pseudo attitude to make her look tough and appeal to the harder hip hip market.
Better than this is 'Glamorous' a smooth and slinky r and b groove with a great rhythm and sultry vocals. Fergie proves she can do tender ballads too, 'Big Girls Don't Cry' is as close as the album gets to being outright pop.
Poor Moments:
'Fergicilious' is an irritant, too busy, too much happening with the drum work and just sounds wrong. It should have been pushed to the end of the album in my opinion. I also did not enjoy 'Voodoo Doll' which seemed too much attitude and not enough substance for me.
Verdict: Well produced with a few near misses, Fergie has enough hit potential and the looks to have a good career ahead
Summary: classy
