Prior to this album which basically serves as an advert for the other rappers on the label. Jay-Z had already become a household rap name loved and despised in equal measure but of course in this genre especially, such mixed feelings simply go with the territory. His previous albums had already spawned massive hits including the very well known hard knock life. Yet despite the multi platinum selling former albums he decided to take a different approach on this album, shunning major producers and instead enlisted the production talents of in house producers including Just Blaze and Kanye West. As was mentioned this album is also an advert for the other rappers on the ... Read the complete review

Less than a year after the release of the life and times of S.Carter and just as his one-time protégé Ja Rule is blowing up the charts the Jigga himself, Jay-Z, returns to remind everybody just who the top dog really is. But while Jay-Z may be the papa-san in charge, The Dynasty: Roc La Familia 2000 is as much of a family joint as the name implies, and Jay-Z makes sure that everyone in the family gets to eat. Mostly, he's joined by Beanie Sigel and Memphis Bleek who spit hard on 10 out of the 16 tracks here. But some other collaborators pay their respects as well, including Scarface ("This Can't Be Life"), Snoop Dogg ("Get Your Man Right, ... Read the complete review

Perhaps "Pain In Da Ass" finally lived up to his name; but if you're expecting to hear his stank ass yell "OKAY, I'M RELOADED!" at the beginning of Jay-Z's new "Dynasty" your ass will sadly be mistaken. In fact, new beginnings seem to be the theme throughout this album: a new direction for Jay Hova (call him Jay Peso), a new life for his Roc-A-Fella Records, and a new chance for his labelmates to shine. By billing this as a "Jay-Z" album in the first place, Jay is affording Beanie Sigel and Memphis Bleek a chance to convert Jigga fans who weren't feeling their debut albums; and best believe that they take ... Jay-Z has no soul. Listening to this CD caused me physical pain. It hurts me inside that the Abbot spent money on this CD. It hurts me that anyone did. Fuck Jay-Z. This man is the biggest farce and no talent motherfucker stealing money from the public today. Let me tell you what I like about this CD: "Guilty Until Proven Innocent" w/ R. Kelly. Never let it be said that I can't admit when something is cool. The beat is really good and Jay-Z does as well as he can on the mic. R. Kelly is the perfect compliment to Jay-Z and they create a song that is a welcome halftime from what is about as entertaining as a 125-80 Laker victory over the Bulls. There ...
