Tapestry Revisited: A Tribute To Carole King - Carole King
by TheChocolateLady - written on 09/08/06 (Very useful, 131 readings)
Rating:
Little can be added to the praise that has always been heaped on Carole King s classic album "Tapestry". But a group of artists have found a better way than words to show their admiration and love for this practically perfect collection of songs. With a plethora of artists from Celine Dion to Manhattan Transfer to Rod Stewart, this Tribute will appeal to practically everyone. Granted, not all the artists will suit the taste of true lovers of the original clear clean voice that we know as Carole King, but there is a lot to recommend this album. Basically, this CD is a collection of artists singing the full collection of original tracks. Put in the same order ...

'Tapestry' is not just made up of commercial ballad after commercial ballad - Carole is certainly NOT a prototype Mariah Carey or Celine Dion. 'Way over yonder' is one of the most powerful and uplifting songs I have ever heard: it is the perfect atheists hymn. The raw beauty of Carole's voice accompanied only by a piano is breathtaking. By contrast, a lively tune like ...

This is one of those old albums that you always remember to be better than it actually turns out to be when you put it on again. 'It's Too Late' and 'You've Got A Friend' are fabulous ditties, but the most of the album just sort of sloshes over you. There's no escaping the fact that this is very safe, inconsequential ...
