Advantages: CAREY'S VOCALS
Disadvantages: Some album filler
The Emancipation of Mimi is a nice little album by the diva of divas Mariah Carey.
The album features fifteen tracks.
The best of these tracks is WE BELONG TOGETHER, a nice slow song good for a romantic night.
I also liked SAY SOMETHIN' featuring SNOOP DOGG as Snoop's rap really goes with the song.
GET YOUR NUMBER is a good track with Jermaine Dupri adding vocals to rival Mariah's.
CIRCLES is another beautiful track where Mariah's vocal talents are emphsised at their best as they are with I WISH YOU KNEW and JOY RIDE.
SHAKE IT OFF is a great dance number.
The album kicks off with IT'S LIKE THAT a song that really kicks in towards the end.
The ALBUM finishes with FLY LIKE A BIRD a really gentle song to finish the album.
The bonus track SPRUNG is a nice little bonus of a track.
Unfortunantly there is some album filler. MINE AGAIN, STAY THE NIGHT and YOUR GIRL add nothing to the album.
In TO THE FLOOR Nelly adds good supporting vocals in these upbeat track and TWISTA offers good vocals in ONE AND ONLY.
The album could be purchased just for the cover alone as Carey looks amazing in gold.
Overall, Mariah's vocals mean that her songs are always worth listening to and the amount of supporting acts gives this album a real edge. The amount of songs you get for your money means that if you are a Mariah fan then this is an album you should purchase.
Summary: Carey scores another winner!
