When you buy a CD you hope that every single song will be as good as the last. The Essential Clash not only does that, but it does that 41 times. Every great hit released by this classic punk band can be found here, from the legendary ''London's Calling'' to the catchy ''Rock the Casbah'' and my personal favourite, ''Janie Jones''. The Clash were at the forefront of the shift in music during the 70's, the outbreak of Punk and the more rebellious attitude to music that was previously seen before. A little more toned down from counterparts such as the Sex Pistols, but with enough umph to satisfy those looking for a bit of a ''rock out'', and with music that in a way can be ... I first became aware of The Clash in the early 1990's after Clash frontman Joe Strummer had composed some of the score to one of my favourite movies (Permanant Record starring Keanu Reeves). The movie featured music in a huge way and because I was impressed with the original tracks on the score I found out more about the artists involved. I had never heard of Joe Strummer before but I had heard of the band The Clash, a group I associated with the Sex Pistols and whom, whenever I'd seen any footage of them performing, simply looked like they were making a lot of noise.
